Wake Up Lazy Bones!
April 15, 2026We begin our reflection with Spirit with a look at love. Love is the cornerstone for all we do in our lives. Our first experience of life is often the love of our mother and father. Love is the impetus to marriage and creating a family. We mourn the loss of those we love. We strive to find our purpose by finding work we love.
We reflect on love as the cornerstone of our lives because the very essence of Spirit is love. It doesn’t matter what we call it, Spirit, God, our higher power; it is love. I call love the cornerstone of our lives. A cornerstone is literally the first stone laid down of a building’s foundation. It aligns and supports the entire structure. In the same way, love is the first stone in our life. The very architecture of our existence.
Our capacity to love ourselves, to love others, to receive love, and to be a beacon of love are all contingent on our ability to “BE” love. Our very being is love.
To be our best selves, we need to honor love. We heal where we are hurting, so love can flow through us unencumbered. Healing is not selfish; it is a selfless act for the benefit of the world. Love is an energy that we have not even begun to measure. An energy that can be directed, focused, and used to fuel the good we choose to do in the world. Love is more than a feeling; it is an active, transformative power.
In masonry, if the cornerstone is even a fraction of a degree off, the entire building eventually leans. In life, when our “love-foundation” is cracked by fear or trauma, the effects ripple throughout every area of our lives. Our relationships with others, our careers, and our ability to create a life filled with wellbeing and happiness.
Today, our Reflection with Spirit asks something of us. We are asked to know ourselves as love. To see Spirit as love. To change our lens where appropriate to see through the lens of love.
Affirmation: I am love. I see myself and others through the lens of love. Today and every day.
