Living Outside the Lines
In our recent Fresh Tracks interview, author Mina Samuels made a comment about coloring outside the lines and it got me thinking. How do we do that? I can visualize coloring outside the lines – something I taught my children NOT to do when they were young. But what does coloring inside the lines mean in my life?
Are there any areas of my life that I AM staying inside the lines? Do I even know where the lines exist?
Coloring outside the lines implies making a choice to live your life your way. Not taking action because you feel obligated to do what is expected of you.
Can you define the lines in your life, where they are seemingly holding you back, and then, with intention, can you cross them?
When you are coloring inside the lines, the truth of the matter is you are usually coloring in someone else’s picture. Rather than even focusing on coloring outside the lines, perhaps start by drawing your own picture. Use whatever colors you want! You CAN have purple grass and green stars if you choose.
The lines are what our mind draws to keep us safe.
Coloring outside the lines is where the creativity happens. It’s the awakening where we realize we can create; we can do something beyond what we are told we can do. It is that creative space where we can express ourselves freely.
Stretching ourselves outside the lines provides a tension, an expansion. This tension is where the growth and forward movement takes place. It is the place where Universal Law kicks in and supports you.
In that tension are the energies of support, the expectation of success, and the bountiful vibration of abundance! It’s all encompassing in this one visual, this lesson we so lovingly teach our children, and strive for as adults…to color within the lines. Let’s retrain ourselves to do the opposite and cut our own Fresh Tracks!
